Elizabeth Traina

Brooklyn, NYC
Artist, Lightworker

WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM

  • Elizabeth Traina is a New York-born and based visual artist and lightwork facilitator. She creates artwork that explores the intersection of modernism and metaphysics — influenced by a small yet rich lineage of transcendental geometry created by women.

Elizabeth's compositions are made of intricately layered transparent forms, suggesting luminescent multi-dimensional movement. She creates botanical works as studies of the wonderment of the natural world. Her paintings can be used as meditation tools to quiet the mind and stimulate the heart field for multi-sensory awarenesses / awakened consciousness.

In addition to her studio practice, she contributes to the intersection of art within social equity and justice movements. Early in her career, she helped to create youth art programs in Oakland, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Brooklyn. She is passionate about the uplifting effects of public art and utilizes her skills as a muralist to beautify spaces with beloved community joy.

Beginning in 2012, she expanded my education with training in Energy Medicine, Transpersonal Hypnotherapy, and Sound Healing and designed Art & Consciousness Curriculum, an innovative hands-on workshop series. She is pleased to share my methods via seminars and workshops, locally and abroad.

Currently, Elizabeth continues her studies with ongoing metaphysical research, paints in her studio in Brooklyn, and offers custom Lightwork Sessions and events to clients and groups seeking transformational guidance.

INSTAGRAM

  • At age 7 Gerry began practicing Taekwondo on Nantucket under the tutelage of Master Michael Miller, which he continued until the age of 20 and received his first dan black belt shortly before his master moved off the island. The years of Taekwondo ignited a passion for martial arts and movement which brought Gerry to China in 2010-11 where he trained at a Daoist temple and was initiated into the Chun Yang Daoist sect as a 24th generation disciple of Daoist renunciate, master Xing De.

Over the next several years, Gerry dove deep into Chinese Martial arts, Qi Gong and Chinese Medicine, attending YEHS program for Chinese Medicine and Tai Chi in Kunming, China. Later, he studied Chinese Medicine at Pacific Rim College in Victoria, B.C. where a turn in the road revealed a path that would lead him in a new direction.

He began practicing Capoeira there as a beginner and has continued to practice with several schools including Jagube Capoeira in Vermont, Abada Capoeira in Nantucket, and Sinha Capoeira, in Boston. He has traveled to Brazil to practice in Rio De Janeiro and in Bahia, one of the birthplaces of the art, and learned from notable masters such as Mestre Camisa and Mestre Cobra Mansa. In 2017, he was granted permission to teach adults and children by his previous instructor and has been holding Capoeira classes and workshops now for several years on the island.

Gerry continues to practice both Chinese Martial Arts and Capoeira here on Nantucket and practices Taichi and Baguazhang with the Northeast Jing Wu association, headed by Nantucket native, Kristopher Feeney. Gerry has a strong passion and belief in the power of movement and in the spiritual traditions of both Capoeira and Daoism and seeks to share them with others to build strong cross-cultural communities and well-being for individuals and the Nantucket community alike.
